How to cancel a cheque - Banking tips
Mnay times companies ask us to provide a cancelled cheque for formalities specially for ecs payment(Electronic Clearing Service).It can be on the time of opening of a demat account with a share trading company or when you are taking some insurance policies etc.

Is it enough to simply write "cancelled" between those 2 lines or is it also necessary to make the account number illegible?
ReplyDeleteIf I want to send it by post, is it correct to first make a photocopy and then write cancelled on the image of the cheque on the photocopy? I do not want to write "cancelled" on an original cheque leaf, this making it unusable.
